Job Overview: Human Resources Generalist (Remote)
We are currently hiring a human resources generalist based in Bogota, Colombia, to support a globally distributed team. This is a remote role where you will act as the backbone of daily people operations and the heartbeat of company culture.
This position is ideal for HR professionals who enjoy balancing structure with creativity. You will manage core HR processes such as HRIS, payroll reviews, onboarding, and performance tracking, while also leading employee engagement, internal communication, and virtual community initiatives.
Candidates based in Latin America are welcome. Professionals located outside the United States will be engaged as independent contractors and will be responsible for local taxes and social security obligations.
Human Resources Generalist Duties and Responsibilities
As a human resources generalist, you will play a hands-on role across the full employee lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include both operational HR functions and people-focused initiatives.
People Operations & HR Infrastructure
Manage and maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS system (Rippling experience is a strong advantage).
Support benefits administration, employee data updates, and internal HR audits.
Act as a secondary reviewer for payroll to ensure accuracy across global teams.
Track onboarding tasks, compliance documentation, and 30/60/90-day evaluations.
Handle employment verification requests and respond to employee HR inquiries efficiently.
Recruitment & Talent Support
Coordinate with the Talent Manager to support hiring workflows.
Review applications, conduct referral screenings, and assist with background checks.
Manage candidate communications to ensure a professional and positive hiring experience.
Onboarding, Learning & Development
Own the end-to-end onboarding process and ensure new hires feel welcomed and prepared.
Lead HR policy sessions, core values training, and internal orientation programs.
Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) and support professional development initiatives.
Performance & Engagement
Support managers in maintaining regular one-on-one meetings and goal-setting cycles.
Track performance check-ins and ensure consistency across teams.
Design and lead virtual engagement activities, internal events, and global meetups.
Global Culture, Communication & Engagement
A major part of this role is strengthening connection within a remote workforce. You will manage internal communications, including a daily company update shared across teams. You will collaborate with department leads to gather updates, celebrate wins, and keep employees aligned with company goals.
You will also help organize virtual events and assist in planning quarterly in-person hub meetups for global team members. In addition, you will lead well-being initiatives, service recognition programs, and global citizenship efforts such as charity drives or crisis response support.
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 3+ years of experience in Human Resources Generalist or People Operations roles.
Proven experience working in a fully remote environment, preferably with a US-based company.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and data accuracy.
Experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Familiarity with HRIS platforms; Rippling experience is a major plus.
Understanding of AI tools for productivity while maintaining original human judgment.
High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive HR data.
