Role Overview
Turing is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Manager embedded within Finance to establish and lead the BI function that drives planning, reporting, and decision‑making. This is a player‑coach role where you’ll be hands‑on in building dashboards, designing semantic layers, improving data pipelines, and guiding BI Analysts as the team scales.
You will also play a critical role in shaping financial planning models, ensuring seamless integration between the data warehouse and planning tools, and delivering executive‑ready insights.
Key Responsibilities
Build the BI Organization in Finance
- Define team charter, operating model, and hiring plan.
- Provide dotted‑line guidance to BI Analysts and transition them into direct management as the team grows.
Own Metrics & Semantic Layer
- Establish a governed KPI catalog across company, segment, and function.
- Create a single source of truth for executive reporting.
Dashboards & Self‑Service Analytics
- Design, build, and maintain executive dashboards in Tableau or Looker (LookML).
- Enable self‑service analytics with curated datasets.
Data Quality & Pipelines
- Partner with Business Systems and Data Engineering to review ELT/ETL pipelines.
- Implement tests, alerts, and ensure reliability across ERP, CRM, and HRIS systems.
Financial Modeling
- Create finance‑ready data models for revenue, operating expenses, and headcount.
- Align master data and dimensional design with GL and cost‑center structures.
Planning Systems Integration
- Support setup and maintenance of planning models (e.g., Anaplan).
- Design automated connectors between warehouse and planning tools.
Reporting Cadence
- Produce board and executive reporting packages.
- Automate recurring reports with actionable insights.
AI‑Assisted Analytics
Pilot anomaly detection, narrative generation, and reconciliation automation to accelerate monthly and quarterly cycles.
Qualifications
- Experience: 6–10+ years in Analytics/BI with strong Finance/FP&A exposure.
- Leadership: Proven success building or leading BI teams while remaining hands‑on.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced SQL expertise.
- Experience with BigQuery or similar cloud warehouses.
- Familiarity with dbt, Fivetran, Airflow or equivalents.
- BI Tools: Strong proficiency in Tableau or Looker (LookML).
- Source Systems: Hands‑on experience with NetSuite ERP and Salesforce CRM.
- Planning Tools: Exposure to FP&A workflows and integration with Anaplan or similar.
- Governance: Ability to establish metric definitions, data contracts, and monitoring frameworks.
- Communication: Executive‑level storytelling and cross‑functional influence.
