Key Responsibilities of the Chief Accountant
As a Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for leading the hotel’s entire accounting function and ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role requires strong leadership, deep accounting expertise, and hands-on experience in hotel finance operations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and manage daily accounting activities including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL), and Fixed Assets
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Prepare, review, and finalize financial statements in full compliance with IFRS
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring all journal entries are reviewed and approved
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies efficiently
Act as the main liaison for internal and external auditors, ensuring smooth audit processes
Ensure full compliance with Qatari corporate tax regulations, including preparation and submission of tax filings to the General Tax Authority
Supervise, guide, and mentor the accounting team, conducting training and performance evaluations
Improve accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Support management by assisting with budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis
Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making within the hotel
Required Qualifications and Skills
Educational Qualifications
University degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, or hospitality/tourism management
CA (Chartered Accountant) certification will be a strong advantage
Experience Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience as an Assistant Director of Finance or Finance Manager
Prior experience in the hospitality or hotel industry is highly preferred
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of IFRS standards
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
