Key Responsibilities
As an accounting expert, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial management and supporting decision-making for tech and AI startups. Your work will include:
Financial Operations & Reporting

Manage the full accounting cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end closing.

Prepare and maintain core financial statements—profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow.

Conduct detailed trend, variance, and budget analysis to support business forecasting.
Accounts & Vendor Management

Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable with accuracy and timeliness.

Manage expense reimbursements and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Policies, Compliance & Audit Support

Develop internal accounting policies tailored to fast-scaling AI companies.

Strengthen internal controls to maintain compliance with standards.

Coordinate with auditors, tax teams, and external financial consultants.
Automation & Systems Improvement

Recommend process improvements to increase accounting efficiency.

Implement automation solutions to enhance financial reporting workflows.

Support data integration across accounting platforms and business tools.
Leadership Guidance

Advise leadership teams on cost optimization, financial strategy, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications—What You Need to Succeed
Mercor is looking for a detail-oriented, reliable professional with strong technical accounting knowledge.
Must-Have Skills

5+ years of professional accounting or controllership experience.

CPA, CA, ACCA, or similar certification preferred.

Experience working in fast-paced tech, AI, or startup environments.

Strong understanding of GAAP or IFRS financial standards.

Expertise in QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or other cloud-based accounting systems.

High-level proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently in global remote teams.
